Father Please ……..

by Christopher Wertz on Mar.12, 2009, under Prayer

Lord,

I sit here as a humbled servant, striving to learn your ways. I walk through this scatterbrained world; I’m lost. Father, I’m a sinner looking for your help. This is what I pray today…

  • Father please touch that youngster who has given up on everything. Show him your light.
  • Father please teach that broken and hurting man that domestic violence is not the answer.
  • Father please hold the heart of the family who has just lost a loved one overseas, fighting what seems to be the endless fight.
  • Father please stop that intoxicated person from getting into the car and driving down the street.
  • Father please bring peace to that broken marriage.
  • Father please feed the hungry, please don’t let them go another day without nourishment.
  • Father please stop that deranged criminal from pulling the trigger.
  • Father please prepare the hearts of those who are preparing their hearts and minds for the Dominican Repubic and Haiti to use their talents for you.
  • Father please bring that lost family to Palm Valley Church this weekend.
  • Father please protect Team Uncle BobbY this weekend as we ride to fight diabetes in Tour de Cure 2009.
  • Father please open that teenager’s heart so they may see your Grace.
  • Father please teach me to be great full.
  • Father please teach me peace.

Father you are great in all ways. I thank you today for your grace and know that you are the light of the world. Please watch over your children and keep us safe.

Amen.

Genesis 2

by Christopher Wertz on Jan.05, 2009, under Genesis, In a Nutshell

After six long hard days of work God took rest. He stepped back, sat down and relaxed after his hard work of creating the universe. God declared that day Holy, as it was the day in which he was able to admire his hard work. After his day of rest God creates Adam from dust of the ground. He breathes life through his nostrils and Adam becomes a living person. God decides to build the perfect place for Adam. God didn’t build a palace, or a mansion; he built a garden. God built a garden, named it Eden, and sticks Adam in it.

God immediately grants Adam freedom. His intention was that he would place Adam into the garden of Eden and have him tend to and watch over it. But in Genesis 2:16-17 God warned Adam. He said “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die.” So God gives Adam freedom and tests him with one simple command. God’s warning was deeper then don’t eat the fruit. It wasn’t as if the fruit would physically kill him. The truth is God was testing Adam’s obedience and if Adam were to remain obedient and not eat the fruit he would have eternal life. So God warned him ….

It Adam’s best interest God decided that it was not good for him to be alone so he created many helpers and companions to help Adam. He created all living things from the ground but nothing seemed to be right. So placed Adam into a deep sleep and while he was sleeping he removed one of Adam’s ribs and closed him back up. With this God created a woman, and brought her to Adam. Adam was thrilled! and says “At last!” , “This one is bone from my bone, and flesh from my flesh! She will be called ‘woman,’ because she was taken from ‘man.”

This gives us a whole new meaning to marriage and the phrase “and two be come one flesh” doesnt it?

So after the two became one flesh the man and woman where both naked in the garden, but they felt no shame. They felt no shame because sin had not been introduced to the world yet. Stay tuned, sin is crouching by the door, but you must subdue it and be it’s master (Genesis 4:7)…..
